Default Armor and weapons keepers

I was thinkng, with the advent of hat crafters, why could'nt it be expanded to armor and weapons. You show them an armor peice, or customised weapon and for a small fee the made you a new one.

Think of the storage space saved by being able to recraft armor at will, or reproduce a weapon. Now obviously safeguards would need to be in place(like not being able to salvage the recreated item) but the technology is now there to do this.

Armor and weapons re-crafting would free up a total of 3 toons storage for me, and I know i'm not alone.

yea problem here is people would sell crystalline swrds and just respawn them.. well wait. maybe not. lets think about this some more here... Nope I still see a problem. the pervious issue is moot by only allowing customized weapons to be respawn. so yea I see that as ok. BUT we still ahve a problem on mods... See customized weapons can still be salvaged. So customizing a weapon with perfect mods would mean you could respawn perfect weapons all the time and salvage them for the mods to resell... So I still think the concept has a problem.

Only way it would be acceptable is if it would respawn a clean weapon of that skin type that is already Customized. and its up to you to get the mod you want from something else. But in all reality you can do that already with the normal weapon crafters, so for that I think its rather redundant really.

OK on to armors... But sorry its the same problem there too... Salvage issues... If you put a armor in like that you could potentially salvage infinite runes off respawned armors forever... so that is a huge problem... and same issue, if you make it that it only spawns the clean set of armor with no runes or inscriptions, then again whats the point as with only a few exceptions armor is either free or relativity cheap in that form anyway, so having a system to do that would again be overly redundant.

I agree they need to have an armor storage of some kind. I'm thinking of a special Guild service for storing your armors, but NOT respawning them, just holding them there, like a closet. maybe about the existing size of storage now except ONLY for armors. That should be enough for 5 sets, and that really should be plenty for anyone. After all we do have PvP equipment crafting at will for those characters all ready. and I'm sorry but there is NO reason to have 20 sets of armor sitting around. Learn to prioritize and optimize your sets. we all have over time, so will you.

Most PvE build are fully usable with 1 set of armor and a full set of head pieces for optimum uses. the rare occasion I have a spare set of aux armor to make a mix build. Alla a 55 build which I never use anymore anyway. But never more then 2 sets.

I think we will get something along this lines eventually, but its prob not something for anytime soon. I actually expect in the next chapter to have armor that gets better over time as you level and advance through the game, similar to the hero armor. With just a skin upgrade available for sale or earned over time. That is a pure guess but I can see where anet is going with the armor development... Alla no more lev 2s with max armor dominating low level PvP arenas with this cheat... Since they tested the concept out on heroes, I fully expect something similar to hit playable characters in a future chapter.

If it does it makes the concept of armor storage rather moot, because you would really not need to change it often in such a condition. It would become similar to PvP armor in that some features could be adjusted on the armor itself to do what you are wanting it to do. See the equipment template system to understand where I am going with this concept...

I think I may not have made it clear, you only allowed customised weapons to be remade and everything you put in cannot be salvaged, so in this way it's entirely economy safe.

Also, armor is'nt just there for function, but fashion also. People collect armor because it's fun(this is more common than one would think) so this is simply a way of storing your armor where it can be retrieved as and when you want to use it.

Let me revise how I said that. They would need to add a flag to the stored object in the DB to not allow salvage, similar to /Preorder items now... Thats where the downside comes in. That also means its not able to be modified anymore, (dyes, runes, Inscriptions, other mods). Thats why I think people would object to this concept. I may be wrong. But I think we all agree that without that restriction it would be exploited as stated above.

The concept thats looks like its being tested for chapter 4 seems to be a skin changer without changing armor stats via equipment templates. Similar to Hero Armor. As I stated above. That may be worth waiting for people that like multi skins to play with. The downside will be if its Lev Dependant as hero armor is currently. I personally like that, but IDK if others will.

They could use something in the description like we've got things like:

Holy Rod
11-22
Requires 9 Divine Favor
(customized for [Name])

They could do that except for a recreated weapon say:

Holy Rod
11-22
Requires 9 Divine Favor
(recreated)

IMO a recreated weapon shouldn't be able to be:

A) Sold to merchant
B) Traded
C) Salvaged

And that certain rarities couldn't be recreated
Ex. Icy Dragon Sword , Chaos Axe , Greens

I do see some problem with copying armor and weapons, even if its customized. Mods, runes, and insig for one. Also is it character base, or account base? (which would have problem with new character getting the end game 15k) Also would just become another unlimited storage, which would have issue there.

In the end, would just ask for a Armor storage NPC that give you 5 slots or so to store your armor....
